Enriching Families, Strengthening Communities
At CVHC, we’re committed to enriching the lives of families by helping them become active, engaged participants in their communities. Through collaboration with the County of Riverside, local unified school districts, and other nonprofit organizations, we’ve developed inclusive programs that promote self-sufficiency, empowerment, and community connection.
These programs are designed to support families in becoming more self-sufficient, confident, and engaged in their neighborhoods. By offering resources in a positive, healthy, and supportive environment, we help families build lasting connections and take an active role in shaping the communities they call home.
Community Gardens
Community Gardens
CVHC has established Community Gardens at six of its rental communities, providing residents with an opportunity to grow their own fresh fruits, vegetables, trees, and flowers. These gardens encourage healthy living, outdoor activity, and community engagement while giving residents a space to connect with nature and one another.

ESL/CTE/ High School Diploma Classes
ESL/CTE/ High School Diploma Classes
CVHC in partnership with FIELD ( Farmworkers Institute of Education & Leadership Development) are able to offers ESL/CTE/High School Diploma classes at Paseo de Los Heroes III in Mecca, Desert Gardens Apartments In Indio, and Arroyo de Paz Apartments In Desert Hot Springs.
ESL (English as a Second Language) classes are designed to help non-native English speakers build strong language skills for everyday life, work, and community engagement. Whether you’re just beginning or looking to improve your fluency, our supportive learning environment helps students gain confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
To make learning accessible for everyone, classes are offered both online and in person. Taught by experienced instructors, these classes are open to adult learners of all levels. By improving their English skills, participants are better equipped to access resources, pursue job opportunities, and become more active members of their communities.
EPIC de Cesar Chavez High School is a fully-accredited charter high school designed for working adults looking to earn their high school diploma or a certificate of completion in a career track of their choice.
FIELD’s Career Technical Education (CTE) program prepares students for the changing workforce by providing you with skills in exciting career option pathways like Early Childhood Education, Business Management, Recycling, Agriculture and Natural Resources. FIELD goes beyond teaching you the skills you would receive in a trade school or vocational school. FIELD is committed to creating business opportunities for students through social enterprises, where students learn to run their own businesses.
Ballet Folklorico Classes
Ballet Folklorico Classes
CVHC offers free Ballet Folklórico classes to CVHC residents ages 7–18, providing local youth with the opportunity to learn and perform traditional Mexican folk dances. Through dance instruction and performances at local cultural events, participants develop their skills while celebrating and preserving cultural traditions.

Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. - Las Palmeras Estates – Coachella
Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. - Arroyo de Paz Apartments – Desert Hot Springs
Classes are free for eligible CVHC residents.
Mariachi Band Classes
Mariachi Band Classes
CVHC’s Mariachi Band Classes celebrate culture, music, and community while introducing participants to the rich traditions of mariachi music. Open to youth and adults, the classes provide hands-on instruction in vocals and traditional mariachi instruments, including violin, guitar, vihuela, and guitarrón.
Participants develop musical skills while building confidence, discipline, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage of mariachi music. Whether beginners or those with previous musical experience, participants are welcomed into a supportive environment where they can learn, create, and perform together.

Wednesdays & Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Classes are free for eligible CVHC residents.
Computer Technology Centers and Education
Computer Technology Centers and Education
CVHC has established 19 Computer Technology Centers throughout its rental communities, providing residents with access to technology, educational resources, and opportunities to build essential computer skills. The centers are utilized five days a week in conjunction with the on-site After-School Kids Clubs and are also available twice a week for open computer hours and computer classes.

Program Access:
Computer Technology Centers are available to residents during regular office hours, as well as during scheduled computer classes and open computer hours. Residents can use the centers to access computers, complete schoolwork, develop technology skills, and take advantage of educational and online resources.

CVHC has built eight Child Development Centers to accommodate children ages 2 to 5 years. The centers provide children with comprehensive childcare in a nurturing, educational environment, and give parents peace of mind while at work. The Child Development Centers are located at:

After School Kid’s Clubs
CVHC has established After-School Kids Clubs to support school-age residents with homework assistance, reading, and social enrichment. The Kids Clubs provide children and youth with a safe, supportive, and engaging environment during the after-school hours, when many parents and guardians are working.
The Kids Clubs are located at:

All After-School Kids Clubs are operated by Desert Recreation District and are open during the following hours:
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The program offers youth a welcoming place to complete their schoolwork, develop positive social connections, and participate in enriching activities.
