Coachella Valley Housing Coalition (CVHC) will be celebrating not one but two groundbreaking ceremonies on February 1, 2018. Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held for Paseo de los Heroes III in Mecca and Villa Hermosa Apartments, Phase II in Indio, CA. Both properties will provide beautiful, secure and affordable housing for low income farmworker families. The schedule for the groundbreaking is as follows:

Paseo de los Heroes III

Designed to provide a high quality living environment for farmworker families, the Paseo de los Heroes III development will consist of (80) 2-4 bedroom townhouse style rental units plus (1) managers unit located above the community room. Over one-half of the units are three bedrooms or larger, reflecting the needs of large families. Rents are set at 30%, 40% and 50% of area median income.
Amenities include:
Spacious courtyard equipped with tables/benches, barbeque grills , tot lot, sports court, perimeter trail with pedestrian path to Paseo de los Heroes II development and ample free space.
Resident services include:
Community Room providing a computer lab/learning center, ESL after school program, homeownership counseling, fitness and nutrition classes – and with its full kitchen the Community Room is available for special events such as birthday parties and celebrations.

Villa Hermosa Apartments, Phase II

Also designed to provide a high quality living environment, this community will consist of 67 apartment housing units and (1) managers unit for low and very low income farmworkers and families These apartments are the second phase of replacement housing for the Fred Young Farm labor Camp next door.
Amenities include:
2 acres of recreation areas including soccer fields, 4 tot lots and a swimming pool. Free flowing paths provide opportunities for social interactions and gatherings.
Resident services include:
Community Center providing computers with a computer learning center, rooms for special events with a full kitchen. Access is provided to local service providers offering residents free-of-charge programs on nutrition, ESL, GED preparation as well as parenting classes and tutoring services.
The developments involve a collaboration of local, state and national partners including the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, USDA Rural Development, City of Indio, County of Riverside Economic Development Agency, Wells Fargo Bank N.A., Wells Fargo Affordable Housing Community Development Corporation and the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco Affordable Housing Program.
